Purpose of Position
Assist Director of Marketing with building a strong brand image within the community. Cultivate relationships with both print and electronic media. Prepare and disseminate press releases and articles. Plan and oversee media events. Write and edit event speeches and scripts. Develop content for organizational email campaigns. Develop and maintain content for organizational website. Develop and maintain media clippings database. Manage organizational surveys, including annual donor survey.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Media Relations (80%)
•Oversees internal and external communications
•Manage organizational public relations
•Develop position statements on critical organizational issues
•Manage crisis issues with the media
•Develop on-going relationships with local media
•Plan and oversee media events
•Maintain contact with corporate media relations officers
•Plan and implement publicity and promotions for media events
•Prepare, edit and place news releases and other written publicity
•Write and edit scripts and speeches
•Develop and manage online communications
Marketing Responsibilities (20%)
•Manage database for health and human care and demographic information
•Develop content for organizational communications
•Oversee content, design and printing of media event materials
•Manage assigned website content
•Manage organizational surveys, including annual donor survey
•Assist with proofing all marketing materials
Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
Bachelors degree in public relations or related field and three to four years of related experience. Skills include writing, public speaking, planning, and project supervision. Non profit experience preferred.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft office 2007 (Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
